Passing of Wallace Warfield

CRSAA members:

Many of us knew and worked with Wally over the years. He was an active supporter of CRS and the alumni association in its formation. He started as a Conciliation Specialist in New York and gradually transferred to CRS Headquarters. After the passing of Gil Pompa, Wallace served as the Acting Director for some 18 months. He was a dedicated leaders and helped to make CRS a better agency. Here is a note announcing Wallace's passing.

Dear Friends & Family,

Dr. Wallace P. Warfield, professor, scholar, mentor, colleague and beloved father and friend passed away Saturday, August 21^st in Silver Spring, MD. In honor of his legacy, The Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University (ICAR) and his family will be celebrating his life and contributions to the community at a memorial service.

The memorial will be held on Saturday, August 28^th from 4-6pm at the Point of View House on the ICAR campus in Lorton, VA. The reception will begin at 4pm with the tribute to follow from 5-6pm.

In honor of Dr. Warfield’s contributions, ICAR will be establishing a scholarship fund in his name. Hence, in lieu of flowers, donations to this scholarship fund are encouraged and welcomed. Details on how to donate to the scholarship fund will be made available at the memorial.

Frequency of CRSAA Reunions

Alumni, here is a question that we need some input on from CRSAA members. How often should we hold a reunion of the alumni? Our first meeting was held inconjunction with CRS' 45th anniversary. Should we plan our next CRSAA reunion/meeting at the 50th anniversary of CRS? Is there a reason for gathering earlier? Maybe someone has a special event or activity in their city that they would like to host a reunion? For example a ACR conference which might be tax decuctible for many of us or a rafting trip down the Colorado river? Let the cabinet of Silke Hansen, Leo Cardenas, Efrain Martinez, Wally Warfield, Larry Turner and myself know what you think is feasible and appropriate. To respond, just hit the word "comment".

Colleagues, welcome to the CRS Alumni Association blog site! With the help of my daughter Danielle, I have established this blog site to help us meet our number one goal of networking with each other. Please share information about what you are doing with other alumni or family members so we can continue to feel connected with our CRS family. Just because we or our love ones discontinued to serve CRS does not mean we do not care about each other. Let's try this blog site for six months and see if it works for us.
